Flaming Telepaths is from the Secret Treaties album. The one with a pic of the ME-262 on the cover. WWII came to an end at an interesting time. Jets just coming in but no jet-to-jet combat. That would have to wait for Korea a few years later. The background is from their debut album. Flaming Telepaths is one of those interesting songs, seems to be about drug use and somebody seeking something and not finding it and maybe something they'd rather not. BOC stuff was like that some, if you dig into the songs you find a lot of interesting stuff. Flaming Telepaths has a nice synth solo by Alan and the live versions are real good. Only Buck and Eric remain from the original crew but they still seem to enjoy doing their thing. Alan passed away a while back - had a thing with Patty Smith in those days and she appears on one or two of their albums. Gotta figure at this point it ain't about money but just having fun. Lot of young people come to the shows them old bands put on. It was a long time ago that one of the guys in the Moody Blues said that they met people at their shows that had grown children with them. These days probably grandchildren too.

Not many covers of FT. There some kinda folk or something-folk group called Espers that a real soft folksy version and one from Norway I didn't know about. Best one is by a group called Voodoo Screw Machine and it's about what you might expect from the name. Pretty good and Buck and Eric and the boys would probably approve. They not real famous but you can see'em on Youtube.

Wasn't until this morning found out there was a tornado hit Wynne. Sort of - hit the country club what's outside of town. Seems it tore up one of the golf cart garages. Seems it came up from Fitzgerald Crossing down on Highway 1 south of town and went northwest. Country club up on Crowley's Ridge over close to where it starts to level off down to the flood plain. Rarely hear of a tornado coming down east of the ridge until at least Parkin or Earle but if you on the windward side or top you're liable to get it. Lots of big fancy houses there and some got it in the one two years ago. Nobody hurt this times far as anybody knows. Phones goin' off constantly all day about storms but none about the tornado.

When people set out to do a crime don't they ever think about what'll happen if they get caught? Picture in the news and description of the sick stuff you're accused of doing? And your family and friends - if you have any - gonna know too. Ain't been to Trumann in a while, least not in it. Gone by on the interstate and it's growing out that way. Population stable and actually growing some probably due to being close to Jonestown.

Arkansas government wanting to hammer illegals that commit crimes here a little extra. The article called'em undocumented instead of illegals but I didn't have a copy of the bill to see what it says. We got some crime here from illegals - some of it internecine but we all victims to some degree with the deterioration of the societal environment and taxes going to deal with them. Figure if it passes the ACLU be down here suing somebody. At least the flow has nearly stopped and it won't get a lot worse.

Was gonna make classic culture items a daily feature but ain't made much progress on it. Lookin' at some old TV movies and came across this gem I hadn't watched in a while. Good TV movies are few and far between and it isn't just because of limited blood and gore and nekkid people. Tellya the truth I'm good with no violence and no sex but you need quality to get me to watch even once and if it's good I'll watch it again sometime. Most of the TV movies I like were the Perry Mason and kinda liked the movies they did. Columbo not so much but OK. If you want to see him the Columbo act in a actually funny movie try The Cheap Detective.

Anyhow TCLM is about a big-city cop that takes a vacation and kills people. You kinda think probably it ain't the first time he done it but if so it turns out be the last. Tom Skerritt is good as you'd expect and Michael Parks is good as the killer. I didn't remember him from anything else but he was in The Hitman with Chuck Norris (not one of his best) and Death Wish V (also not one of the best DW films) and most of his other stuff wasn't my cup of soup. Good actor though and a good performance by him and Tom. And the sheriff's assistant....

What, Chris?

I was just gonna say she was real cute. The last Death Wish flick wasn't that great either but neither were the two before it. Whether Charlie was doing it for the money or fun or whatever Idunno.

This is some outfit called Wallethub that does clickbait material. Memphis near the bottom seems about right but Nashville and Knoxville being that far down seems a little funny being behind Atlanta and Okland.

Some vaccines like smallpox and such are a idea if you got a disease killing people everwhere like that. When you got a vaccine for every ailment you can dream up and some of them are downright fake people get suspicious. The fewest you can live with is best.

Fear of the state is less these days for law-abiding folks. The previous regime was arresting people wholesale and flinging them into durance vile for saying things they didn't like. Rounding up criminals that have no business being here to begin with is something such people should fear. And them that is here legally but at the pleasure of the government and are inciting riots and insurrection and such should either sit down and shut up or leave. Or be removed.

Vox is referring to the belief that foreigners are entitled to incite riots and plot terrorism against the Republic. Even with visas (many are here illegally) they do not have such rights. Sadly the people in control didn't fall out of love with Trudy's policies, he just wasn't seen as a viable leader for the journey into darkness. Obama is even more of a clown than he ever was as president. Sure, he was pretty ridiculous without a teleprompter but now that he's being dragged out to try to stop the bleeding he is even more so. You can see he doesn't want to be doing it but realizing that a reversal of everything they have accomplished since Clinton he may feel the need to do something. I believe he hates all that is good and decent (and white people) enough but it could be that his masters ordered him into action.

Palestine is down near Forrest City. Little place under 1K and about the only time I ever heard the name if was on the news or knew somebody that knew somebody that lived there or went there or something. Ain't heard it pronounced on TV or radio in a long time but it seems some people used to say it 'Palasteen'. This was on one of the news web sites. About an hour and change from Jonestown if you go south on US 1 through Harrisburg and Wynne and Forrest City. Hour and a half if you go out on I-555 and don't know why you'd want to but Google shows you that option. What the guy was doing in Jonestown Idunno but he allegedly domestically assaulted his baby-mama.

Another corpse turned up in Left Memphis. A live illegal alien turned up in Clay County. The no habla Ingles type and drugs and stuff. Locals turning him over to ICE.

The TV station and Jonesborightnow both reported the guys what hit the Blazing Buffalo in Brookland. As you might suspect it's an eating establishment and maybe them wings are on the menu. Did I ever mention I got no use for boneless wings? Boneless wings are essentially chicken nuggets. I like real wings. I eat the littlest part first (wings have three parts) and then the next and finally the biggest. Littlest one got hardly any meat on it but it's fun to eat and the next part a little more and the biggest is kinda like a little drumstick. A real little one but some people sell them by themselves and call'em drummies or something. I like regular drumsticks too but probably my favorite is a third of a dozen breasts barbecued slow in a favorite Corningware dish. Nothing fancy, just regular barbecue sauce. Anyhow Jonesbororightnow just reported two suspects were arrested and that they did some vandalism but not much else. KAIT reported the names and had a pic of one but didn's say which one it was. Okey-dokey.

What, Chris?

Chicken breasts. What did you think I liked two pairs of at once?

If you don't like people farming chickens and people eatin' their eggs just say so. Don't suggest Easter potatoes. This dude (PETA) even quoted the Bible.

This joker talks about Kennedy and Nixon and even LBJ was small-time compared to Clinton and Obama and whoever was running the Biden administration. Dude looks as old as Bernie Sanders and is about as smart. And evil.

One more and I'll call it a day. He's talking about the 36 trillion national debt incresing at a trillion every hundred days. And the one man who may be able - or wants to - stop it is the one they hate most and will do anything to cause him to fail.

The Democrats spent a few hundred million go elect a Wisconsin supreme court justice and what is left of the state-run media expressed continuous outrage that Elon Musk spent a bunch of money trying to prevent it. People in the third world are going to die because USA is no longer able to afford to feed them? Okey-dokey. The tariffs thing... you know how that ended.

Well, I've opened up my veins too many times And the poison's in my heart and in my mind Poison's in my bloodstream Poison's in my pride I'm after rebellion I'll settle for lies (I'll settle for lies) Is it any wonder that my mind's on fire? Imprisoned by the thoughts of what to do Is it any wonder that my joke's an iron? And the joke's on you

Donald (never went by Don) was a Yankee, married a southern woman. Southern woman with a bit of money, owned some nice properties in Memphis. Had a kid with her previous husband, he died, she married Donald. Donald was an ex-Marine, typical bombastic Yank. Not offensive, kind of like guys from New York City. I met a few in the Air Force. They seem smart-ass right off but it's just the way they talk, most of them turned out to be nice guys like from anywhere. Guys from upstate some of them was as country as me. So Donald was kind of loud but nice easy-going, always ready to help anyone in need. He was the collections officer, the guy that got stuff repossessed when the loans didn't get paid. He tried to get the debtors to come in or he'd go see them and see if they could work something out. Banks don't like repossessing cars as they usually lose money. Guy doesn't make his car payments often doesn't take care of it. Theoretically the debtor agrees to make up the loss if the bank loses money but if he couldn't pay for the car he probably can't pay the losses. He didn't have to repo many. Sometimes I'd ride along on a visit to a delinquent debtor to drive the vehicle back if necessary but never did. So I rode along and listened to Donald's war stories and if it was a few hours we'd have lunch somewhere on the bank's dime. Ideally it would take most of the day and we'd get back about closing time. Donald was the one officer I went on trips with that didn't drink while we were out. He could drink all right, partial to half gallon bottles of Ancient Age, had a handle on them. He'd hook his thumb in the handle like it was a moonshine jug and tilt his head back and pour some down. I never saw him really drunk the way some guys got. Guess he had some practice. ============================================================================================================== He was one of the ones had a nice house up on Cedar Ridge, wife being pretty well-off. Told me he used cypress wood from a barn on a farm his wife's father owned to build it. Some people did that, cypress would last forever. Had a few parties there, he and Gerald didn't like each other much and tried to outdo each other with parties in houses their wives' dads paid for. He was there when I worked at the bank before and still there when I came back. Only now he didn't go out and repo cars any more, hired a fellow to do it. Fellow with a gimpy leg and a blue Pinto. I had a blue Pinto about that time, a station wagon I used for banging around back roads. Had a ten foot boat that would fit in the back, went fishing at a lake out on the farm. And shooting bullfrogs with an old Winchester .22 Dad bought before WWII, but don't tell anyone. I guess the statute of limitations lapsed about forty years ago anyhow. Fellow with the gimpy leg his blue Pingo to tow in repos using one of them towing dollies. I'd bought a 1978 Chrysler LeBaron, slightly used, at the local Dodge dealer. Dove grey, all the buttons including power sunroof. Or moonroof, whichever it is. Two-door of course, 318 2-barrel that would eventually get replaced but only because sticky lifters chewed up the camshaft before I took it to get fixed. Friend was into Mopars had couple of freshly rebuilt 360s and one of them went in. Another car I wish I hadn't sold but there you are. Fun cruising cranking the Pioneer Supertuner through a set of Jensen three-ways. Judas Priest released Screaming for Vengeance in '82 and it was a favorite for starting a drive. Had a serious high-dollar setup (Air Force BXs in Europe had fancy sound and camera shops) and would dub the virgin vinyl onto Maxell cassettes at five bucks a pop. Records didn't get played any more as he cassettes were almost indistinguishable and you could play them in the car. ============================================================================================================== Digression finished I'll get back to the subject at hand. Donald had hired a repo man. With a blue Pinto and a towing dolly. When he had to retrieve a car he'd hook it up behind the Pinto and bring it in. At least that was the setup when I returned. His office was outside the computer room. I'd chat with them regularly, did some custom reports they needed. Secretary was tall blonde, pretty good-looking, thirties. Her husband was a small building contractor, got cancer, she divorced him, he died. Okey-dokey. His secretary Rhonda was living with a guy that had a auto repair shop and towing service. He and a brother named Danny. Brother was a good mechanic, nice-sized shop, plenty of business. Had him put a new exhaust on my LeBaron when I put the new mill in. Did I mention I miss that car? Probably more than any but the '93 Mustang. Their father owned a big salvage yard, probably twenty to thirty acres of old cars, drank beer all day and sold car parts. Sold a few to me. Donald retained the services of Donnie to repossess cars, replacing the guy with the blue Pinto on account of they had tow trucks. Donnie (the one banging Donald's secretary) and his brother Danny got in a habit of stealing cars. They'd replace the VIN with one from a vehicle of the same make and model in the junkyard, paint it a different color and sell it. I don't know how much money they made but it wasn't worth it. They got caught, how I don't remember, but one day I came to work on a Saturday morning and found the cars of most of the officers there. There were several other cars I didn't recognize. Went in to the computer room and was doing some work, didn't feel like sticking my nose into someplace it didn't belong. ============================================================================================================== A little later one of them came up and told me. The Gibson boys had been stealing cars. Danny was in jail and Donnie had fled. Donald's secretary had been driving one of the stolen cars and had offered to sell others to bank employees. Donald didn't suffer any repercussions, and he hadn't done anything wrong. Bad judgment but that was about it. Rhonda was under suspicion but nothing could be proven. But she had other problems. She was chronically short of money and behind on some loans and had been told get them caught up. Instead she changed the delinquency reports to omit her loans so the board didn't see them. That bought her a month or two, then she was fired for falsifying records. I don't remember who replaced her. Being a secretary they probably hired a new one. That was probably a year or so before I left, what happened to Donald I don't know except he died and his wife married a third husband and outlived him. My barber or thirty-some years had three wives die on him. Nothing suspicious - one had leukemia and another had some sort of cancer and I don't remember about the third one but they all died young. Donnie was apprehended and may have done some time, or may have gotten a suspended sentence as he had no priors. Danny had a record and went away for a while. Last I heard of him he was in again on a fed drug rap, in his seventies now.
