Time Passages
followed the very successful
Year of the Cat.
YOTC was the reason I became fan, having been theretofore been unaware of his existence. YOTC was huge on the radio in the mid-70s. I believe it was his
second of his albums produced by
Alan Parsons
and the production is impeccable as is Al's performance. I actually bought a half-speed master pressing (in addition to the regular copy) and made a cassette
copy. I had a pair of Technics mid-range turntables and usually had an Audio-Technica cart in one and an Empire in the other, swapping several models of each
around. I don't remember ever using anything but AT and Empire. The tapes were Maxell UDXLII and I used my Pioneer CT-F1250. There may have been better tapes
but I never found one, even trying a few metal types.
TP continued Al's use of historical events as subject matter. YOTC had Lord Grenville and the the Basque Separatist movement and the
Rhodesian Crisis as some called it. TP gives us the French Revolution and Thomas More and mentions the Mary Celeste. It's more
poetic than accurate - there was only king in France and his attempt at departure was unsuccessful, while Henry VIII wasn't a
Plantagenet but one of the Tudors who replaced them. I certainly listened to TP many more times than YOTC, both are quite good.
OK, what we got in the world of northeast Arkansas? Well, you remember that dude that was being arrested by
a Jonestown cop
and the cop beat him up while he was handcuffed and all? Yeah, that one. Not
the one
that blew through a stop sign and left a woman permanently crippled. He had a history of improper violence too but this is a different one. They
fired him but not the one that nearly killed the citizen and left her crippled. Far as I know he's still employed by the Jonestown police.
No, the dude that got beat up by the cop still had to go to jail - they don't just let you go and give you money like they did
Rodney King.
The guy did something to get arrested for so he has to to to jail until they figure out what to do with him. So it's off to the Craignead Detention
Center where they keep people in his circumstances. And where - in his case - you can get beaten up some more.
According to the affidavit, it began with Brown being the first to strike Coram, hitting him from behind in the right side of the face. When Coram fell
to the ground, Faulkner ran up, moved Brown out of the way, and began punching Coram repeatedly. Anderson ran up the stairs and joined Faulkner in striking
Coram while he was down. Anderson can be seen on jail video kicking and stomping on Coram.
In the middle of the chaos, Brown went to Coram's cell where his cellmate, Sadon Whitfield, gave Brown all of Coram's commissary. (NEA Report)
Youch! Hurts just thinking about it. The guy was arrested and beat up by a Jonestown cop, and he got beat up this time in the country detention center.
I wonder if the county will be sued. Should be but that's just my opinion. Other thing I wonder about is if someone was letting him know he... nevermind.

Slow news day. Had a
domestic violence incident
in Paragould yesterday, seems someone heard shooting and it seems the shooting was someone
trying to get the police to come. That'll do it but it it could take a while. Seems the victim was beaten pretty bad but not shot but was choppered
to Memphis where bad trauma goes. Stuff like traffic mishaps and shooting. Anyhow the presumed perp was arrested and is in the
Greene County Detention Center. He should be happy not to be in the
Craighead facility
just down the road.
I always ask people that get in these situations have insurance. People in a car wreck you figure most do - at least if it ain't in Memphis or
Chicago or some such place - and that pays the hospital bills. Chopper rides
ain't cheap.
Regular ambulance rides ain't cheap. Did I ever tell you abou the time... nevermind. Anyway if they don't have insurance and don't have any
money it's gotta come from somewhere.
Guy with 11K child porn pics. That's just plain weird or something. Sick too but what's going on in that head, like I wanna know. In the perp
walk pic he's wearing what looks like pajama pants. Was he about to go to Wal-Mart when they arrested him?

Aside from the usual traffic mishaps and some trivial mischief not much being reported so far. Sometimes it takes a while, especially on a
Monday. A
new local site
is about Brookland or so it sez, actually it's Arkansas and some national headlines. Not like there's much going on in Brookland. Anyway there's a backlink for them.
Brookland does have one of the best Dollar Trees in the area - it's only been there a while and the oldest ones in Jonestown are getting upgrades so the area should
be in good shape in the Dollar Tree department. I may or may not have mentioned that Jonestown needs to get new Tractor Supply and Harbor Freight stores. The
ones in Paragould are newer and bigger and accessibility is a lot better. Maybe when the Big Lots store closes Harbor Freight would want to take a look.
I'll take a look at the
Memphis trial
later, and the beating-up of the previously beaten up by police inmate may merit further discussion. It does seem a bit strange that video of the cop-beating is available but not
the assault in the jail. Excuse me, detention center. One would think there would be considerable surveillance in there. Not that I want to watch people being beaten up but...
What, Chris?
All right, maybe one or two. But how about that? Any video available? See ya in a few.

The wands of smoke are rising
From the walls of the Bastille
Through the streets of Paris
Runs a sense of the unreal
The Kings have all departed
Their servants are nowhere
We burned out their mansions
In the name of Robespierre
Oh, we wait to see the day begin
Our time is wasting in the wind
Wondering why
Wondering why, it echoes
Through the lonely palace of Versailles
Inside the midnight councils
The lamps are burning low
Oh, you sit and talk all through the night
There's just no place to go
Bonaparte is coming
With his army from the south
Marat, your days are numbered
And we live hand to mouth
While we wait to see the day begin
Our time is wasting in the wind
Wondering why
Wondering why, it echoes
Through the lonely palace of Versailles
The ghost of revolution
Still prowls the Paris streets
Down all the restless centuries
It purpose, incomplete
Speaks inside the cheap red wine
Of cafe summer nights
It's red and amber voices
Call the cars at traffic lights
Why do you wait to see the day begin
Our time is wasting in the wind
Wondering why
Wondering why, it echoes
Through the lonely palace of Versailles
Wondering why, it echoes
Through the lonely palace of Versailles
Wondering why, it echoes
Through the lonely palace of Versailles
