A little over-the-top? Probably but
AA
writers don't write for the critics. As one of my favorite musicians whose reputation I won't
endanger by my approval said "I play for myself, and as much as I can for the band and and the audience. And nothing at all for critics."
The action in Balance of Power is over-the-top in places but good fun and more if you have a sense of humor.
Still not much serious mischief around here. Dunno what he status of the
Black Rock affair
is. The perp isn't on the
LawCo Jail
inmate roster but he may have bonded out right away. I was looking for a pic is all. Parkin picking a temporary mayor - saw where they got some money
for a new fire station, 100K. If everything in Parkin burnt down would it be worth 100K? Stil nothing on the
latest shootin' in Brookland.
Somebody mailing pot somewhere. Both
KAIT
and
Jonesboro Right Now
reported on the guy that beat up his boyfriend. Stuff like that. Used to be you wouldn't
get the particulars like the relationship. Those things can get pretty ugly - I know a guy worked homicide in a big city where you have more of it, he said
those were some of the worst ones as edged and/or blunt weapons were the most common. You only hear about the ones involving
notable people.
KAIT has an AP bit about
President Trump
visiting Joetard the way new presidents do when they get elected. Dunno if Joe actually knew
what was going on any more than he has for a couple of years. Can't wait for the Renaissance to begin 20 January. For now we're just
enjoying the meltdowns in the enemy ranks. They don't have anything yet on former governor Mike Huckabee being selected for ambassador
to Israel. KATV had it yesterday so maybe the locals will pick it up, maybe the newspaper. Hang on, believe I saw something...
Yep,
here it is...
Okey-dokey. Fact there ain't much else just now. Lessee what
the gods
have to say:

Gamma Ray
is described by Wickedpedia as a German power metal band and seeing as power metal pretty much began as a German thing that should do. These days you get metal of all kinds from
all over the world and that's a good thing. LBTS is from I believe their third album which would put it around 1993. Reminds me of our own times, looks like a bad storm coming
and you kinda wish you had lived in another time and Alex says something similar in MacArthur's Freehold. It's a favorite from way back and I have some vids of live
performances. But it looks like maybe the storm has been put off for a while or maybe not depending how things go from here. Begins to get better about now or gets worse if we fail.
Local news has been slow, paper got right to the
great hoodie heist
at Academy Sports. Now who would steal hoodies? I've never been in store in Jonestown or any others and not sure what hoodies cost there or anywhere. Figured 20 bucks
at Wal-Mart, just guessing. Academy has'em from there up to sixty-seventy or so. That's for the ones with that logo that some people like to steal. So if they stole $1680
worth of Nikes that's lessee, two dozen or so. Says there was two teens, I mean suspects, so that's about a dozen apiece.
I believe the three main ones had the one about the old hospital in Jonestown that shut down has been bought by another psychomed operator. That would be the old Arkansas
Continued Care Hospital where they drugged people and told their families they had mental problems so they could milk the insurance companies.
NEA Report says:
ACCHJ will be discontinuing operations at 3024 Red Wolf Blvd. in Jonesboro, AR. Methodist Family Health plans to remodel the hospital into an acute, 70-bed psychiatric
facility for children under the age of 18. (NEA Report)
I've been in that joint, drugged outta my skull and wired to a bed while they billed Blue Cross over a million dollars. Funny funny thing, James Cox was the CEO and he was the
COO of
Ascent Children's Health Services
before they went belly-up. Children with psych-problems paid for with Medicaid, finally a kid died after being locked in a van for eight hours. Jamie got hisself hired by
ACCH and now it's defunct. ACCH was about forty beds, maybe less. Now it's gonna be 70? They gonna add two more floors?

These happened on
Wednesday
and
Thursday
so not weekend crime. Tell ya the truth Idunno if weekend crime needs a different catgegory. Used to be you had more of it with people getting
into mischief on acccount of people drinking after payday but many (most?) criminals don't have jobs. A shooting in Marianna or that area isn't
much of a surprise and I suppose drugged derelicts aren't uncommon in Trumann. Hang on... Trumann is still growing a bit. Not as much as Brookland
and Bay with them being closer to Jonesboro and Truman not being that great a place to live. It spread out towards the 63 bypass and there's some
newer development out that way but the old town... well it got bypassed.
I guess with my primary residence being in Cross County (middle of the windmill farm) Senator Caldwell is my senator. The Wynne Progress does his
reports from the Arkansas swamp. Just kidding, Arkansas government ain't half bad even if most of the Republicans are milquetoasts. I believe
governor Sanders has made a difference. Certainly we're good to have that RINO Hutchinson gone - term limits was the best thing happened to
Arkansas. Anyway he said they talked about welfare, or
gonna talk about it:
Under President-elect Donald Trump's first term, Arkansas put a work requirement into place in June 2018. However, a judge struck it down in 2019.
The policy required able-bodied Medicaid recipients between the ages of 30 and 49 to work 20 hours per week, engage in an equivalent amount of
community activities, or submit an exception. (KAIT)
The elected representatives of the people fix things and unelected judges re-break them.
House Minority Leader Andrew Collins said there are work requirements on food stamps and traditional welfare programs. However, Collins said he believes those work
requirements should be enough.
'I think that people out there who are getting these benefits want to work too,' Collins said. 'Is the best way to get them to work to force them and if they don't to
throw them off their health insurance? I don't think so.' (KAIT)
Fact is that at some point in the very near future something has be cut. It's possible that the Trump administration with a Republican Congress
can extend the fuse on the debt bomb but unless they are spectaculary successful something will have to be cut. If the
dependent payouts
(SNAP, HUD, Medicaid being the big ones) are to be maintained the 'entitlements' that were actully paid for in advance by their recipients
(Social Security and Medicare) will be cut. It's easier screw a population of elderly and largely inform people than hordes of young
physically fit parasites who have demostrated that they will burn and pillage if they don't get what they want.

Baron von Tollbooth & the Chrome Nun
is three of the Jefferson Airplane crew and some other folks from that scene
around 1973 or so. Grace Slick, Paul Kantner and David Freiberg would to on to form Jefferson Starship. Starship
guitarist Craig Chaquico joins them here and plays lead on Flowers. BVFATCN has some Airplaneish stuff -
politics and socio-commentary. FOTN is the first track on side two and I used to play that side first because I
like it as an opener. I always liked the way Grace played piano and Across the Board is a good example.
According to the credits Jack Traylor wrote FOTN but I've seen it credited to Paul Kantner and probably others in
places. It's a shame he doesn't have a Wickedpedia page but
here's some info.
I always liked that bit about mercenaries seeming to decide that some things are more important than money. Actually
that has always been the case for some - back when
Soldier of Fortune
was a thing some would specify in their ads that
that they wouldn't work for bad people like Russia or it's client states or bad actors in other parts of the world.
But there are plenty of people who'll do anything for enough money and a lot of them are politicians. I'd rather
deal with the types carrying guns because I can see what they are and generally if you shoot somebody that's shooting
at you or about to you don't get prosecuted. Usually.
Memphis teevee had two front page stories about three guys wanted for shooting people. I looked at the pics and there
were two different sets of three guys in hoodies, hang on, one pic has two hoodies and one in a T shirt. There's a
Dodge Charger
incident - doesn't say if it had a temporary tag or indicate possession status (stolen/not stolen).
Stuff people say department. The
three-year-old kid wandering around Trumann
had an article about the local people commentating:
"There are a lot of families here in town that have issues, and we don't have enough programs really to reach these families and the kids are the ones that are
suffering," Baker said. "And I hate to see this, it is horrible. (KAIT)
Yeah, that'll do it. More programs. What kind of programs do you need? New ones or more of same? How about using the old ones, law and order and
personal accountability? Now it may be the first time these particular derelicts were caught derelicting. If it is take the kid and put it somewhere
safe and keep the derelicts locked up for as long as possible.
Let's call it a day and take a look around Monday or so.
