I was looking for a pic so I don't have to go dig out the DVD - it's in the library and I just click when I want listen. Can watch too but the sound is what it's all about. Yngwie was looking good, dressed up nice, whole band in fact. Joe in a fringed jacket like he sometimes wore with Rainbow. Ritchie wore them a lot too, cool jackets. About 1973 or so I was in Mexico with some kids from Spanish class, bought one in a market in Saltillo. About 30 pesos or so, hard to find anything like it these days anywhere. Heavy - didn't want to wear it unless it was fairly cool - nice satiny lining. Doesn't fit anymore even after I got back down near my high school waist size of 34 - shoulders too big. Bummer but I gave it to a grand-niece that's into horses and all. She's as tall as me so it's just a little big on her, not so's you'd notice.

Obviously this was in Russia, 1989 or so, things a bit easier-going by then. Good selection of Yngwie's stuff up to that point, works well with Joe who's about the best singer Yngwie ever had. Best several bands had but not gonna go into the Rainbow thing - I liked Ronnie and Joe both. Music was different being as Ronnie and Joe wrote a lot of it. Wrote stuff with Yngwie too, and other bands he was with. Got a few nice vids of Joe and a band doing Rainbow, Purple, Yngwie and other stuff from bands he was with - a lot good stuff in one place.

There's some good reviews on Amazon that describe it pretty much the same way I see it so you can check them out if you want. There was some some rumours that the show was doctored or even re-recorded in most or part, don't know how much truth there is in them. Live shows do get cleaned up some and some get it more than others. My only problem is it's too short - I could go for two hours of anyone I like a lot but it may have done to fit on a CD as well. These days you get different mixes of a lot of stuff, reissues and such.

OK, what day is it? Tuesday? Could be the beginning of a Renaissance or a Dark Ages. I got a feeling about which it'll be but no sense in gettin' depressed.

Lessee, Greene County former deputy arrested for stealing something, OK. Woman in Bono got pretty wild while being arrested. Last thing I remember in Bono was the Jonestown cop and her girlfriend had a fight. A McDonalds employee in Jonestown showed naughty pics with underage subjects depicted. Some figure the wannabe mayors in Jonestown - the two with a chance - might have a runoff. Guess if they were close to even it could happen with the other two guys in there. Three dead in a house in Pocahontas and no suspects being sought. Accident or murder-suicide? I seem to remember something like that happening a while back. For some reason I was thinking that was three but checked and it was just two. Nothing new on this one yet.

This one was probably presumed to be of local interest because there are Kroger stores here and there. Nice big one in Jonestown but I haven't been there in years. They're more exepensive than most places and nothing special there. Union came close to wrecking them way back in the '70s and '80s but they Kroger had some spine and the union backed off. I worked there part time last couple of years in school and they kids I worked with figured on getting a full-time job and having a good life like the automobile makers. Department heads back then making $15 an hour and four or five weeks vacation.

Anyway Kroger could see the writing on the wall and kicked in a billion and almost a half to get that off their plate. Not sure what Kroger did wrong, most grocery stores got pharmacies but Kroger got the deep pockets. Like the tobacco deal, go after everybody and get a lot from some and a little from the ones that just want it over with. For Kroger a couple of billion a small price to pay for that.

The Arkansas AG seems like a pretty decent guy and maybe he figured thirty other states was going to cash in he might as well get some money for Arkansas. Thirteen million not a lot of money and it'll take ten years to get it all.

If you're one of the 600 million X users that aren't big shots and you get a handful of likes on any comment you're doing pretty good. My Gollum comment usually does pretty well. The joke fits Garland so well - he's got that mealy-mouth talk whenever he's lying and making (now) impotent threats. He's more despicable than Gollum because Gollum was twisted by an external and nearly irresistible force - Garland chose the path of evil and the hate that eats away at his insides is part of his being.

Anyway we had the election and I didn't figure on staying up as I expected bad news - Trump maybe winning narrowly but with one or two states close enough they could try to overturn them with repeated recounts and lawfare like in 2000. Now I should have expected it to turn out all right when that bullet didn't quite go where they meant. That was clearly divine intervention and I shoulda not worried. Anyway it's done - if they try for him again they'll probably miss again. One of my colleagues talks about that a little more.

So with the national scene done - Presidency and Senate and near certainly the House - let's take a look at the local stuff.

Jonestown mayor got a runoff since one of the other dudes pulled enough to keep both the politicians under 50%. Fifteen percent didn't want either of the politicians - if that 15% goes to Bryant he could just break 50% but you can't count on them voting again. If they dislike Copenhaver enough they might. Be good to see him lose but either way....

What, Chris?

Wasn't gonna say it. You should know that by now.

Craighead Jail and library taxes failed again. Wonder when they'll get the message. Hickory Ridge did pass theirs. As expected the Wynne mayor survived the recall and the Parkin mayor didn't. Like who the mayor of Parkin is makes any difference to anyone except the mayor or wannabe mayor. Who'd want to be the mayor of Parkin? There can't be much to steal there.

OK, that should do it for local stuff.

I'll blame the lies and stupid people for mostly not having any idea what to expect, and I expected something bad. At best no decision for days and maybe a bad one then. So many people saying so many different things it was hard to know anything except that polls are pretty near useless any more. Maybe that's why they didn't see it coming. Between the regime being run by the mental equivalent of a bunch of junior high kids and a few million more people than before being thoroughly pissed off the red wave happened this time. Maybe it was better it didn't - things got worse for a couple more years.

The multiple deaths in Pocahontas apparently is believed to be another murder-suicide - no more info yet. Left Memphis voted to increase their sales tax, dunno what for besides 'improving quality of life and public safety'. Got it. Not much else, so lessee what the library had to say about the vote:

Nevermind, the usual stuff. here it is if you wanna read it. Maybe they can find some places to cut expenses or at least not continue to increase them.

Not much else so took a look at this thing about an old building in Wynne. Speaking of libraries. I didn't know the Cross County Library owned it. I ain't over there much, old downtown area where they're fixing up some of the buildings and tearing down others. Not tearing down enough it seems. Anyhow back in the day what they're calling the Burnett Building housed the Burnett Drug Store. Back then drugstores sold a lot of stuff besides medicine and related stuff, sometimes they had a little counter where you could buy sodas and stuff - don't remember if this one did. It did have a couple or so of those rotating racks of books and magazines and stuff. Usually some paper backs and comic books which I was interested in. Comics were 12 cents then and the paperbacks was 50 to 75 cents mostly. Buddy of mine at school and I and the one or two other geeks went there and bought SF paperbacks. Still have them, got one or two of the Burroughs Mars books there, some other stuff like that.

There was a neon sign, not real big, with the name of the store on it. It was there until just recently, I guess it disappeared when some work was beind done or maybe the tornado got it. Hadn't worked in years, like the OK signs out at the Ford/Toyota dealer on the main drag. They had the 'OK' in script in a circle, about a foot across, up on the light poles on the used car side. OK used cars. It was a Chevy dealer then and the OK thing was the brand. Sold Oldsmobiles too. Anyway that was fifty years ago and now they sell Fords and Toyotas there but the round signs still up there. They ain't worked in years either. See a few on Ebay, mostly the painted metal ones but not many of the neon ones. I thought about working that into the plot of a book - an action-adventure type - where there's a shootout at an OK car lot. Never did get around to doing it.

President Trump won his third election and it looks like this time it will count. They'd like to use the 22nd Amendment to stop him but they would have to admit he won last time. They're crazy enough to try but probably won't happen. are another matter: Rent-a-riots

Dunno if the crime action is from last weekend or an early start on this one. Lessee when what went down and where. Jonesboro Right Now has this one and sez it happened on Wednesday. Two days later all they tell us is that it happened. Does say the arrestee was 67 years old. Seems a little old to have not learned how to stay out of trouble but maybe that's just me. Tells us what kind of drugs he had and how many and he was on probation and that he was charged with offenses for same but no name and no mugshot. NEA Report usually has mugshots and names. Some of the names are real doozies but that's part of the fun. I mean, wondering if Sadia is pronounced Shardia or some other way, or if Dionsys knows that's not the right way to spell it, like the dude named after the famous French king who stopped the Muslim incursion into Western Europe. If there's no pic and no name the news is pretty much useless. Actually it's almost as useless with the names and pics but there's some entertainment value. Yagogga wonder why they run these sites - if the ad revenue is based on clicks they're not making much so I suspect it's a flat rate and the local businesses just buy ads like they do for newspapers and TV. I imagine people who barely have the ability to operate a Wordpress site either don't know how to look at traffic or just don't care. Or both.

Cross County and its neighbor to the south had a bit of crime. Forrest City had a convenience store stickup - guess you could call it that as there was a gun involved - and Cross County had a handful (for some unlucky sawmill operators) of drug arrests. If I was transporting drugs around in my automobile I'd try not to attract the attention of the law by violating traffic laws. Is is that hard to observe the speed limit, stop at stop signs, stay between the ditches?

What else we got? Chris is tryin' to stir things up again. Not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent at this juncture or probably any other. Forgot about the dog situation in Jonestown. Can't have the Animal Control guy shoot it with a trank gun and tote it to the pound? OK, Blytheville had a drugs-and-guns bust, not much cash on this one. No word on a Memphis connection. Shootin' at the casino over in Left Memphis. Not much info on that one either, just a guy shot dead outside the casino.

Later.

Remo Williams 1 hour ago This was the best one since both Reagan victories. And Trump is the first real Republican since Reagan. I like the omens, and believe he will deliver. If there had merely been gunshots and they arrested someone the impact would have been negligible. That iconic picture may well be - depending on how things to - the most iconic of all time. The VC guy being capped in Saigon, the staged pic with the runaway kid at Kent State, had a big temporary impact but it was soon forgotten. This is one for the ages. You play a good game, boy, but the game is finished. Now you die. Reply HG DePloraBelle 21 minutes ago Given the seriousness of the situation it may be more important than Reagan. An order of magnitude worse doesn't begin to describe it - economy, illegal infestation, wars all over. I believe Trump can get the Middle East and Ukraine stablized fairly quickly but shipping the illegals out and getting the budget balanced will have to be done with a Congress that is only slightly less corrupt than before. What difference, at this point, does it make? Reply oG KaliforniaDreamin 12 minutes ago RINOS in Congress will be a problem - but Reagan had to deal with Democrats mostly. RINOS can be bought more cheaply, without blowing all the economic gains. It Trump has the right people dealing with them he may actually make some progress in four years. It took Reagan's entire first term to stabilize the situation. And I suspect that Vance will do a good job of continuing, unlike Bush 41. Twisted Mentat 53 minutes ago President-elect ‘Trump makes history with White House chief of staff appointment NY Poteet OK guys, it's over two months until Inauguration Day. What can happen between now and then. Assassination attempts? Riots? I don't see any legal means - Trump's victory really was too big to rig - or overturn. So only extra-legal means seem possible. In terms of what the regime wants - I believe any action will be approved - I don't see them doing it on Jan 6. It would make them look bad and accomplish nothing. Jan 20 is another matter - if constant rioting is part of the plan they might well start on that day. And it might serve as a cover for one more assassination attempt. I believe they'll keep trying even after. You play a good game, boy, but the game is finished. Now you die. Reply oGl[-)
