Tony at Sweden Rock a few years back. Actually 2015 - time sure gets away. The vocalist is the young Norwegian Age Sten Nelson. I think I may have known who the guitarist is but don't have it handy just now. He's real good though. Tony was only with Rainbow for a couple of years and left during the rather unstable early years. Tony and Rainbow bandmate Ronnie James Dio both had cancer - Tony recovering and Ronnie passing on shortly afterwards. Drummer Cozy Powell, also part of that interation of Rainbow, sadly perished in a traffic accident. Tony has a pretty good sense of humor, reportedly remarking that after his multiple surgeries he was missing some organs but fortunately his Hammond wasn't one of them. He's old school and back in the day had the pile of keyboards around him on the stage. Here's an interview on Youtube that's pretty good. Okey-dokey, see if anything happening in NEA....

Finally got a little bit tore off the old Citizens Bank in Jonestown. Dunno if it coulda been saved if somebody wanted to put the money into it but apparently nobody that could did. I avoid that area and usually it's a wrong turn that gets me on that street.

Supposedly they'll get to work on the trial for the prom night shooters. Pre-trial hearings anyway. One of them pleaded guilty and got 30 years - if these guys go to trial and are convicted they may go away for a good while. Just guessing but he'll probably testify agin'em and but you never know. I'm pretty sure I saw Prom Night because I watched anything with Jamie Lee Curtis in it - including the embarrassing Road Games with Stacy Keach but must've not seen it much more than once.

Dunno what this Left Memphis thing is about and probably don't want to but probably will find out eventually. May be one of those I just ignore further developments. This guy in Jonestown is acccused of doing something especially despicable. At least there haven't been any machete attacks.

Jonestown paper about average. Lot of basketball, not much news. This link to a reasonably sane piece musta been accidental. Cartoonists alternating between TDS and MDS and not doing it well.

Book of the day is the Elric books by Michael Moorcock. Seven of them actually - Moorcock wrote a lot of novellas and short stories and I've probably missed some of those. The Golden Age of DAW had some of the best covers - I don't remember any Frazettas but Whelan did one or two. I dug them out of the library the other day and was setting up to digitize them and got absorbed in the first one and was up late finishing it. Elric is probably the most complex of Moorcock's characters - Jerry Cornelius is the most convoluted and chaotic. Actually Moorcock develops the character a lot more than most of his other Eternal Champions cycle what with his introspection and conflicts of his character (essentially good) with that of almost all his race (species actually as the Melniboneans aren't like regular humans) which is what some described as human cats. Beautiful and intelligent and even charming but with the morals of... well, an alley cat. He lives in a complex world, again one more complex than most of the others in the EC cycle, probably on a level with ERB's Barsoom and Roger Zelazny's Amber.

Woohoo! Sorry, okey-dokey. Anything happen lately? In NEA that is, this is the NEA Times. Actually it's something I fool around with for a few minutes a couple of times a day. Still nothing on the latest found body, or the latest reported anyway, Sometimes it takes a while.

KJNB has another state propaganda piece. That's the USA state-run media. Here's how they begin and it gets worse as it usually does when you do nothing but lie:

Do American students really rank at the bottom of international comparisons and does the United States really spend more per pupil than any other country?

Those are the false claims made by President Donald Trump and his backers to justify shutting the Department of Education.

KJNB.com
No cupcake, those are accurate claims. OK, some African or even South American backwater where clean water and food are more important may be behind us. The developed world - bad as it is - is way ahead. And they don't deny that the USA went from first to near last only after the DOE was created and began the destruction of American education. That's because it was the plan.

The dims options look pretty bad at this point. It would be nice if they ran Gruesome or Awolz and they just might try the former. Giggles and the morbidly obese Illinois governor are probably non-starters but I won't bet against the stupidity of the dims. I suspect they'll pull out another unknown like Slick Willie but Gruesome is already trying to be Clinton and failing badly. Aside from the fact that was thirty years ago and he had Perot siphoning off a good chunk of votes and weak opponents. Bush would have won without Perot and even Dole might have prevailed even if Perot was in again.

I wouldn't bet on Greenpeace ever paying up. If the judgment does stand it's unlikely they have much in the way of assets within US jurisdiction so nothing there.

If you take all the carbon dioxide outta the air the plants will die. Do these people claim they know how much to take out without causing harm to nature? Or are they just general-purpose crackpots? Or evil? I'm going with evil.

Yeah well, when you been there and done that and got the cheap T-shirt...

Some stuff on Memphis. SmartAsset and WalletHub generate clickbait articles and are about as reliable as this one indicates. The fact that people able to get out of Memphis are doing so as fast as they can. This poor fellow couldn't even get out of the condemned apartment building he was living in.

I hadn't paid much attention to the case of the guy got beat to death by Memphis cops. I believe they all convicted and goin' to prison but didn't know much about the lawsuit except there is one. Didn't know the police chief was a defendant - or seems to be - the article ain't real clear. No reason not to since she responsible for what the department does and when you're going for over a half billion it'll take a lot deep pockets.

Real federal auditors are part of the problems. Seems the fox has been guarding the henhouse and I'd be terrified too if I was one of the ones responsible. Idunno the status of Elon's child that fell victim to the evil people. Whether he did the surgery and stuff to make his body like a woman or is just saying he is one it's sad story. One of many sad stories. They only important thing that was changed by the Plandemic was that the 30-40% of those who hate the ones did it and despise the ones who caved haven't changed.

This time it was just a guy threatening to machete somebody. Back in Arkansas a guy was shot and killed by one or more of Arkansas state trooper, Harrisburg police and Poinsett County sheriff department personnel. Gilmore - the infamous speed trap back in the day - is about thirty miles from Harrisburg. Pursuee was in a Kia Sedona and it was over around Gilmore before the trooper teevee-eyed him. Caught on fire and all.

Over here in Cross County a sheriff's deputy been arrested for sexual assault. Young guy, I may have seen him a time or two at traffic stops. Depends on how many fat deputies they have - I drive by where they got somebody stopped and the deputy was pretty chunky. I wouldn't want to be a Cross County sheriff deputy in the Cross County jail. I especially wouldn't want be me in any jail.

What, Chris?

What made you think I was gonna tell that story again? It's been at least a month since the last time I told it. Anyway I looked at the jailbird inventory it seems he was released the next day. Forgot to mention it had something to do with crimes against children. Another solar farm going in down near Forrest City. Someday you look at northeast Arkansas on Google Earth and it'll look like a one big PV panel with windmills sticking up here and there.

Jonestown paper got another explanation of how ending racial discrimination and such is bad and how homes are now more expensive because of tariffs that haven't started yet. Got it. And a new cartoon. If you don't have time to read it here's the last paragraph:

Like many, I am left to question, what kind of society are we choosing to be? One that acknowledges its imperfections and actively works to address them? Or one that pretends centuries of systemic inequity can be overcome simply by declaring that merit is all that matters?
Merit is all that matters to sane and decent people. And merit includes moral character as well as skills and knowledge - in fact without moral character skills and knowledge are more likely to be misused. People who want something given to them - or to others - rather than earning it are deficient in character.

Jonesbororightnow had this piece about voter suppression and other issues. I'll be charitable and assume they're all about preventing such things since they aren't happening now.

"Today we are seeing some of the same egregious acts in Congress as well as on the state level," said Shamal Carter, president of the Craighead County NAACP. "Today, as we commemorate, we also bring attention to the things that are going to affect us all."
They had about as many pics as there was people so they coulda done a pic for each one and a couple of group pics. I noticed there was only about two or three non-white people in that NAACP demonstration.
Marchers spoke out against various bills filed in the Arkansas legislature which critics have said will make petitioning more difficult. One such bill is SB209, now Act 273, which can disqualify signatures collected by canvassers if the secretary of state finds a greater than 50% likelihood they violated state law collecting the signatures.
Most of the time there's about a 100% chance they violate the law.
They also spoke out against state Sen. Dan Sullivan's (R-Jonesboro) bills aiming to end diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practices. Sullivan's SB3, now Act 116, prohibits discrimination based on race, sex, ethnicity or national origin by state and public agencies.
Scuse me, isn't that what you say you want? No discrimation? Especially the NAACP. Just kidding, I know it was never about that.

KJNB had one of the usual propaganda pieces about Ukraine. They're not big enough to be paid but the fact is that most of the "news" media in this country will happily print Ukrainian disinformation without being paid but the big ones are not in control now. So they attempt to discredit the alternative media, the one that (mostly) can't be bought by accusing them of being paid by Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Clear Story News falsely reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was using US taxpayer dollars to pay Western media journalists to target Trump.

The article was accompanied with an image of a letter purportedly sent by Zelensky's office to the leader of Ukraine's parliament, demanding that a "plan" be developed to "create a negative image" of Trump.

KJNB.com
Don't know as I ever read Clear Story News but the fact is that everything Zelenskyy does is paid for by mostly American taxpayers. Since they quote Newsguard you can be pretty sure it's false - Newsguard's raison d'ĂȘtre is to counter inconvenient news while propping up the legacy media. What call the CRAWL strategy. It is the colour of a bleached skull, his flesh; and the long hair which flows below his shoulders is milk-white. From the tapering, beautiful head stare two slanting eyes, crimson and moody, and from the loose sleeves of his yellow gown emerge two slender hands, also the colour of bone, resting on each arm of a seat which has been carved from a single, massive ruby. The crimson eyes are troubled and sometimes one hand will rise to finger the light helm which sits upon the white locks: a helm made from some dark, greenish alloy and exquisitely moulded into the likeness of a dragon about to take wing. And on the hand which absently caresses the crown there is a ring in which is set a single rare Actorios stone whose core sometimes shifts sluggishly and reshapes itself, as if it were sentient smoke and as restless in its jewelled prison as the young albino on his Ruby Throne. Ever since I woke up I had been tied to the bed. Not with the restraints they have in hospitals to keep patients from harming themselves or falling out of bed but wire. Two twisted strands of grey wire like the type used for clotheslines but without the plastic coating. Two loops around my wrists and ankles tied to the bed Frame with strips of cloth that looked like they were torn From sheets. I tried not to move much when I was awake but I had cuts from the wire. They released my wrists so I could sit up and take medicine and then tied me again. I had been looking for a way to get loose and one day I was alone for quite a while and managed to get the one on my right wrist off the rail. I put it under me and pulled the sheets up. When a nurse came in and looked for it I acted like I was out of it and didn't open my eyes and moaned and talked nonsense. She gave up looking For it after a while and got another one. A Few hours later when one of my sisters was there I got it out and gave it to her, told her to keep it safe. Drugged as I was I knew something wasn't right. Human Harvest (2022)

"Psychoactive, psychotropic, psycho-this-that-and-the-other. Chemicals that do stuff to the way your brain works. Your situation would require actual work and some financial investment if only in paying their staff. It would pay off big but it's easier to take the nearly guaranteed payoffs for may be a couple hundred thousand, enough of those add up to millions, billions even for the big guys. You give them a case where a high school cheerleader is in a car that gets rear-ended by a drunk - a rich or well-insured one obviously - leaving her a paraplegic and the star quarterback dead for extra points, pardon the expression, that may require some investment but will absolutely pay off big. And with cases like that they're all over it immediately, vultures sitting around the hospital, waiting to offer the services. But you're Joe Sixpack, not a pretty cheerleader, the hospital has high-dollar lawyers and they'll have to work for it and it's not so cut-and-dried.
