Gonna close this on Tuesday 'cause I got an MRI on Wednesday. Docs fooling around for months before they get the insurance to approve it. I asked the lab and they said ten hundred clams if I just want to go to it and pay out of pocket. The doctor orders it and the insurance pays it gonna be twice that at least. So they get more money - if I'm still alive to do it - and I guess that's good for them. And the docs get paid for a couple or three more encounters. Anyway I'm probably not in immiment danger of expiring from something. Probably where they sewed me back together or the drugs they put in me that cause liver damage. That'll probably take a couple of years to kill me so the revenue stream is good for that long anyway.

Uriah Heep is doing their farewell tour. I know a lot of acts somehow manage to come back but I believe Heep is for real. Not just because Mick is the last of the original members - that doesn't seem to stop some from continuing and I don't have a problem with it. But somehow I suspected someday Mick would want to retire and while Bernie and Phil have been in for over thirty years and are along with Mick the creative center but while over thirty-five years isn't fifty-three it's a long time.

They're one of the best live bands that ever was and seem to do it because they enjoy it. They may not be as mega-rich as the latest entertainment equivalent of Mountain Dew but they're probably doing all right. Between Two Worlds reportedly was a tribute two of the earliest members - bassist Gary Thain and frontman David Byron. Both were tragic cases of the type that happened so often back then (and still occasionally do but seemingly not as often as they did for a while there) due to substance abuse.

It was the opening number for a while. I didn't see them during that time but got a show video or two of good quality and it's fun to crank up. Heep with that keyboard/guitar setup similar to Deep Purple and a similar sound. Great stuff, glad technology is there to preserve it.

I already commented but hadn't seen what the community had to say.

Amy Lopez, a mother of three, praised the initiative.

"This reform could be a game-changer," she said. "SNAP should support families in making healthy choices. If the program encourages nutritious eating, it benefits everyone by reducing long-term healthcare costs." Jonesbororightnow.com
Not everyone shares her enthusiasm. Jessica Miller, a SNAP recipient and single mother, voiced strong opposition.

"Restricting what we can buy feels like an attack on poor families," Miller said. "We're already struggling to make ends meet, and sometimes buying a treat for your kids is all you can do to make their day. This won't solve poverty or hunger." Jonesbororightnow.com
I thought maybe we was poor when I was a kid because Mom and Dad didn't buy us candy and sodas and stuff all the time. We weren't especially rich back then but that wasn't the reason. I've never had to have a tooth filled and never lost a tooth until I was in my forties and something the dentist said he couldn't explain caused me to lose my two back molars on the left side. Lived on a farm and no fluoridated water either. Had my wisdom teeth hacked out by an Air Force dentist named Timothy Leary. Actually I guess he did it right but they took the stitches out too soon and it got kinda nasty. Kids that get candy too much can have tooth problems and if the taxpayers bought the candy there's an increased probability that they pay for the dentist too. See how that works Ms. Miller? Nah, they don's see. Who should be unhappy - someone unhappy with the amount of freebies maybe being cut or a who is still paying Social Security and Medicare tax (because my income is taxed at about 30% because I'm finally collecting the Social Security and Medicare I paid for and AM STILL PAYING FOR because I still have other income or those who paid for at least part of theirs. Sooner or later something has to go. When the less fortunate who paid for forty-plus years and Social Security is all they have and it gets cut so people who in many cases never worked a day in their lives can continue to get their handout do single mothers care about THE ONES WHO PAID FOR WHAT THEY GET AND WANT MORE OF?

Apparently somebody figured they was seriously disrespected. Slapping kids around ain't nice or smart and doing it with cameras on you the whole time is even less smart. Some people lack self-control I reckon.

A few million here a few million there. I suppose we won't know for a while if anything gets done about the debt. These folks do know that 25 million is all borrowed don't they? Like they care.

Jonestown paper finally decided to mention the assault... I mean harassment allegations agin the basketball coach at Paragould. Maybe it's just me but if some was to strike me in the face I would consider it an assault. Actually if they just tried to strike me it would be assault - if they connected it would be assault and battery. Technically if you even act like you're about to slug me it would cause me fear of imminent harm and that would be assault.

Dunno why it wasn't in the sports section. It was about basketball. They had an editorial about Governor Sanders planning to deal with the taxpayers buying junk food for people that can't pay for their own groceries. I got a feeling it'll pass but the usual suspects gotta deflect and obfuscate:

The proposal targets SNAP beneficiaries, but most Americans are digging their own graves with a knife and fork, and the government is subsidizing and encouraging the unhealthiness of their lifestyles in various ways. For example, the health care system doesn't really punish us if we eat poorly. Hospitals treat us, and taxpayers and fellow ratepayers collectively pay for much of the costs of our decisions.

In other words, a bigger conversation is needed about all the ways that modern American life makes it easy for us to make unhealthy choices -- regardless of our income level.   Jonesborosun.com
Lessee, people that work for a living and buy their own food and pay for their own insurance are paying for those hospitals. And we're paying taxes for people to buy unhealthy food and get sick and our taxes pay for their health care too. How about first we stop them from wasting our money and being unhealthy into the bargain and then you can lecture the working people that eat too much Twinkies and Snickers bars and whateverall?

I haven't had a Twinkie in years, Snickers either. The regular size ones were too small and I used go get the big ones but they started that silly makin'em in two pieces like you supposed to share it with somebody. I still get a PayDay now and then - they still in one piece. I like the Pearson's Salted Nut Roll (PSNR) even better but about the only place I can find them is Dollar Tree. Right now I got two or three that I bought but trying to not put on weight this winter. Sure are good though.

Some years back there was a radio show I used to hear sometimes, whatever it was I was driving late a night a lot and it came on. Called The '70s with Cindy Barton and she played what probably they call classic rock now. Their main sponsor was the PSNR company and I always figured to try one some day. First time I bought one I was a little leery because of the white stuff in the center. Turned out to be pretty good though.

Chris lookin' at me like....

I would suggest that driving drunk would be a good thing to not do at all times. I generally avoid driving on holidays because drunk or not there's a lot more bad drivers.

Wynne paper had this bit and and KAIT had this one about schools. I don't see that much of a problem with violent behavior by teachers in Arkansas schools but getting ahead of the potential problems is not a bad idea. Have a way to deal with it when it does happen. Tell you the truth I don't know where the problem is with inclusivity - is it because there isn't or because there is. If there isn't you got a problem all right but the fact is if everybody plays by the same rules they're all included.

My favorite weekend talk show is still just two hours but Andrew suggested they may be about to have a third. Andrew was talking about the proposed welfare reforms. No not that one. That was Slick Willie desperately trying to get reelected and wasn't taking any chances. He figured on getting elected and having the dims take control of Congress and repeal it. Thanks to Ross Perot he got back in but the reforms such as they were didn't change much. So we've got people buying chips and dip and ice cream with their SNAP card. Anyhow Andrew was talking about it, Memphis being so close to Arkansas they have an audience over here he being a sensible guy was for it but his younger producer who seems real nice but is young and liberal was agin it. Just not fair for people not to be able to have me and the other taxpayers buy their snacks.

I don't see any way the feds don't approve the waiver and I doubt the usual suspects in the legislature will have much support so it should go. What sucks is you have to ask for a waiver and the outoing regime would never have approved it. As someone or other said elections have consequences. I expect some good consequences from this one.

Didn't I threaten to have movie commentary a while back? Whether or not I did here's some.

True Grit wasn't a favorite John Wayne movie - western or otherwise - for a long time. Not because Glen Campbell didn't to a pretty good job for being maybe the first of the very few films he did - I thought he did all right. If you read the book you'd find that the the sometimes quirky dialogue that put me off for a while was the way the book was wrote though. Anyway it was one of John's best and I believe he got an Oscar for it. Haven't seen the remake yet, may get around to it one day. Heard good things about it and I like Jeff Bridges. Among my faves are the Howard Hawks trilogy (it woulda been cool if all three had 'Rio' in the title but you can't have everything) and as other westerns go I liked Big Jake and The Undefeated, Chisum not as much for some reason. McClintock more due to the always charming Maureen O'Hara. Good non-westerns were the unabashedly propagandistic The Green Berets - probably the first and last time I'll link to either one of those dudes - (nice performance by David Jannsen) and McQ (decent, you get a sixty-something something Duke chasing/fleeing bad guys in a '73 Trans-Am. Brannigan was quite enjoyable - I was in the U.K. or a few years shortly after that and experienced the London of the time. Richard Attenborough was a charming foil to badass Chicago cop John Wayne. Judy Geeson deserves a mention. Dunno anything about the dude in the Jag with what looked like a Mauser C96 or something that looked like one. I start talkin' about John Wayne movies be be here all night.

Okey-dokey, Tuesday so we should be getting some input from the local 'news' outlets by now. Lessee what they got. I know I'm up early but c'mon guys, let's get with it.

Seems not many irregularities turned up in the election. There was a lot more scrutiny from poll watchers in a lot of places, especially the dodgy states where the 2020 election was rigged. That wasn't the only reason they didn't get away with it this time but it helped. Just knowing they were being watched helped some and some being caught helped more. Arkansas is near as red as can be so if someone manages to fix a mayor or city council seat somewhere it's a local thing.

Fixing the tax situation is always a good thing and naturally I applaud efforts to do so. I should probably suggest to Governor Sanders that she get the legislature to look at what they want to do in Virginia. The Republicans anyway but things seem to be going in the right direction there. I suspect it would fly here.

You're not the only one Amongst the saints and sinners There are those that we can see And those no longer with us To take that walk again With someone you were close to On stage in the other world tonight And there are many Who will say it's speculation We need to focus on The sleeping generation The healing vision That extends beyond the pain Will take you there and back again

I can remember You were no stranger As you came to me Dreamers walking And in that moment Between two worlds I saw the furthest star Exploding all around you And through the journey You spoke in silence And you made it clear

Walk in peace now Then you touched me Revealing all upon your way Inside the burning fountain of timeOf time ... A time so real as the one We share each day The same dimension Just a heartbeat away In every part of you There's so much exploration Out on the edge of space and time

Crop handle carved in bone; sat high upon a throne of finest English leather. The queen of all the pack, this joker raised his hat and talked about the weather. This highborn hunter had tastes as strange as they come. Unbridled passion: I took the bit in my teeth. Her standing over me on my knees underneath.

Jawbreaker ‘49 minutes ago ‘Sanders suggests no snacks with SNAP It should pass. There will be the usual kicking and screaming by all three of the commies and posturing by a couple or RINOs but I suspect more are seeing the wind direction. And all the pressure that's been building up, For all the years it bore the load, The cracks appear, the frame starts to distort, It's ready to explode. Reply #6 Gl-) Jessica Atreides Marshall 31 minutes ago There shouldn't be a problem with approval of the waiver but it's a disgrace that one is needed. There should be strict limits as in the past. We have entered the time when all will turn against us and seek our lives. Reply HG MAGA Hertz 12 minutes ago These people are given everything - housing, food, medical care and seem to think it just happens like manna. When the country finally goes broke they may not be the first to feel it - that will be the people on Social Security that get theirs cut so the parasites can be fed but by then it will be too late. I'd rather be one of the ones accustomed to taking care of myself when it all falls apart. "I should know better, but where's the fun in that?!" Reply oG
