George R. R. Martin
is known by more people now than he was when he wrote that but I wonder how many people who watched
Game of Thrones
know who wrote the books it is based on or have read them or his other work. He's probably a good bit richer these days than he was in 1976.
Then he was just another SF author unknown outside that universe. I read the first couple of GOT books but didn't stick around for the rest.
Whether fantasy or SF or in between George is good but he mostly stopped writing anything else after GOT took off. I have several collections
of short stories and novellas from those days and have probably read ASFL a dozen times over the past thirty years or so. Sometimes because I'm
writing about it like I am now and once in a while I for some reason want to read it again. It's one of the most haunting stories I've ever read
by George or anyone else.
Any time an X user with a
Pepe
avatar likes one of my posts I check him/her out and usually end up following them. They're usually interesting.
OK, what else. Today's Wednesday, Jonestown tomorrow.
Actually it isn't. I'm from around there and am in town pretty regular. The clickbait ad generators use whatever they think is your location to generate
clickbait ads. Actually once a week I look at one out of curiosity but that's about it. Anyway once I get the rest of the code in it'll make it look like
someone clicked so they pay for one that wasn't real. Actually Jonestown is full of good-looking women but...anyway there's not much new news so far.

Well once I started reading it again I had to finish it. It's that compelling - and I wanted to read the ending again to see if I had remembered it right.
So there you are. The narrator and Laurie both figured they couldn't stand to be there after what they saw but he will always wonder which way was the right
way knowing that either way is for keeps. I know something about feeling that way. Don't say it, Chris. Just don't. Chris is a youngster.
Lookin' around NEA to see if anything of note happened... lemme check the TV folks. Guy from Blytheville killed in a wreck in Little Rock, people getting sick
from E. coli in organic carrrots. Some in Arkansas and Misery and a bunch of other states. Dunno why they needed to specify organic carrots - that stuff turns
up on a lot of food that ain't organic, whatever organic means. No chemicals usually, or non-GMO or both. Seems
the producer
is the biggest producer of carrots on the planet so there's the potential to make a lot of people sick.
Jonesboro Right Now has sports and NEA Report doesn't and the Jonestown Sun has sports and dumb editorial stuff. KAIT has stuff from the AP feed, the soon-to-be
former president in China
again. Picking up his last check? Had thing about him telling the
Ukrainian boss
it's OK to shoot some of those long-range missiles we gave them into Russia. What does the
knitting women say?

Trying some different speakers on my new setup and this was one of the favorite classical pieces I chose. I have oft theorized that if Paganini were
reincarnated or resurrected or somehow found hisself in the twenty-first century he would ditch the Strads and pick up a Strat and be the new
Ritchie Blackmore. Similarly if Dvorak came back he would catch a flight to the USA - not that Czechoslovakia as it was called before it became
the Czech Republic is a bad place to live compared to much of Europe - and here compose his Symphony Number 10 - From the Third World.
Speaking of Ritchie I played a couple of
Axel Rudi Pell
live sets, being as he's apparently a fan of the great one. Knights and the 25th anniversary
show. Axel has had pretty much the same lineup for a long time and I don't see any need to change it.
That'll do it for the real world - let's take a peek outside and see what's happening. Little early for weekend crime but we got
this from Jonesboro
already. And sports, college and high school.
One of KAIT's 'content partners' had
this.
Using kids that way is pretty low. Fortunately the trend that way is growing where it's growing and if there's a couple of states that are a little slow on it that's
bad but not that bad. Parents can keep their kids away from the clutches of the state even if it costs them money. Not like Europe where they arrest them and some flee to
Russia to be free to say how their kids are educated. Anyhow that's a problem that's being handled at state level and with any luck the Trump admin will be able to finally
end the Department of Education once and for all.

Something some people I know sometimes suggest only slightly humorously is that in the event of the collapse of civilization we over here in northeast
Arkansas should have a plan to quickly demolish the bridges connecting Tennessee to Arkansas. Mississippi is on its own but we don't have to wait
for the big one to guess what would here. Looking at the Craighead jail today we got about a half dozen malefactors from Memphis. Some from Little
Rock and other places not around here. How can you make criminals less mobile? Besides keeping them locked up - the judges around here seem to do a
fair job of imposing serious bail but if you keep them locked up the jail population increases. Hmmm, some guys come from Memphis to what's left of
the mall in Jonesboro and steal some stuff:
Jonesboro, AR - (JonesboroRightNow.com) - Nov. 19, 2024 --Over the weekend, Jonesboro police responded to a theft in progress at a retail store at the Mall at Turtle Creek.
While officers were on the way, they learned that two suspects had left the business and were in a black car with Tennessee tags. Arkansas State Police was also made aware of the
vehicle because of the possibility of the men traveling back to Tennessee.
No description of the car except it was black so don't know if it was a Dodge Charger. I seen a rumor the other day that the planned conversion of Chargers to
electric-only may be on hold - seems there's a big demand for the gas-burners. Tellya the truth if you want a big four-door that goes fast Ford should bring back
the Crown Vic. Like Chargers they were used by both cops and criminals. Get caught doin' the crime and they tote you off to jail in the same kind of car you
stole to do the crime.
Anyway the state boys apprehended them and they're now guests of the taxpayers. Wish we could to detention like Sheriff Joe did. Tommy Robinson was pretty
dodgy hisself but he got results.
Looking at the population of Craighead detention center we get this:
| 202 | Jonesboro |
| 84 | Arkansas other |
| 18 | Other states |
| |
| 304 | |
Some of those other Arkansas places are near Jonesboro and a handful from over in Misery. Interestingly the Greene County jail has
over two hundred and Paragould has most of the population. Their jail page doesn't say where the offenders are from. I noticed
the Memphis TV folks had a bit about it. Wonder if there's a way to persuade them to keep those types on their side of the river.
As I expected weekend crime takes a while to show up in the news.
This one
was just on KAIT today - maybe if I watched television I might have seen it sooner but I don't watch TV any more. The
ATM robbery
was yesterday. Said the perps broke into it and then said it was 'hacked'. Did they use an axe? Who writes this stuff?
Hickory Ridge
got their sales tax
and now they plan to
have a police force again.
I don't know how far the sales tax will go on that. They haven't had police since 2019, that's lessee, five years. They got a point about
being a long way from wherever a sheriff's deputy is. That's long drive from Wynne and spooky at night. Especially on that long stretch
of 42 - even if you drive it regular you gotta be careful.
What, Chris?
Pretty sure the statute of limitations ran out some time back on all of'em.
About to sign off but might as well put this in. Haven't been to Osecola in a long time, didn't know they had a food factory of some kind there.
Only information so far is that there was two expensive helicopter ambulance rides.
Later.

That opening riff makes it easy to forget that five years and three albums separate Burnin' for You and Don't Fear the Reaper. Different
producers too as the great Martin Birch produced AOF but not FOUO. If Martin never did anything other than the Deep Purple Made in Japan album and
the Rainbow collection On Stage he would be one of the greatest producers ever. The separation in time and techology between those two makes it all
the more impressive. Anynow DFTR was hugely famous and was in movies and stuff while BFY was less commercially successful. Not that the Cult - not that
Cult
cared much about commercial success. They had a fair amount anyway.
Both get a fair amount of exposure in bumper music and in the vast right-wing conspiracy talk shows I listen to BFY seems to have an edge. They're not my favorite
Cult songs, with Veteran of the Psychic Wars and Then Came the Last Days of May especially in live sets being my main ones.
Not much news, just some
major butthurt
in the Jonestown paper editorial page. The first windmill to get three blades is the one due north of me. The solar farm up towards Harrisburg looks like the biggest
drive-in theater you ever seen, just the posts up. KAIT has
one from the AP feed
out there on top. Speaking of
butthurt. Lemme check in with the peanut gallery.

Lyanna took his hand lightly in hers, and gave him her vampire look: big,
dark eyes opened wide and staring, thin mouth lifted in a tiny faint smile.
She's a small girl, almost waiflike, with short brown hair and a child's
figure. She can look very fragile, very helpless. When she wants to. But she
rattles people with that look. If they know Lya's a telepath, they figure
she's poking around amid their innermost secrets. Actually she's playing
with them. When Lyanna is really reading, her whole body goes stiff and you can
almost see her tremble. And those big, soul-sucking eyes get narrow and hard
and opaque.

I didn't answer. Instead I shrugged, and headed for the tube. I was almost
there when he stopped me.
"Wait," he said. "How about dinner tonight? You've done a good job
for us. We're having a farewell party anyway, Laurie and me. She's leaving
too."
"I'm sorry," I said.
His turn to shrug. "What for? Laurie's a beautiful person, and I'll
miss her. But it's no tragedy. There are other beautiful people. I think she
was getting restless with Shkea, anyway."
I'd almost forgotten my Talent, in my heat and the pain of my loss. I
remembered it now. I read him. There was no sorrow, no pain, just a vague
disappointment. And below that, his wall. Always the wall, keeping him apart,
this man who was a first-name friend to everyone and an intimate to none. And
on it, it was almost as if there were a sign that read, THIS FAR YOU GO, AND NO
FARTHER.

Russia
His final mission for the cabal. Xi knows the situation better than most Americans.
There may or may not be a point to it. The deal with Ukraine is to see if they can get
some action going that will have US intervention - drop it on Trump. I suspect Putin
won't take the bait - he knows Trump will be in soon and he can afford to wait.

It's worse than cleaning up after Carter in 1981 but Trump can do it. The Dems don't
realize yet what they're dealing with - nothing like Trump in 2017. I expect cease-
fires in the ME on Israeli terms and the end of fighting in Ukraine with Russia happy.
Those who are inclined to suffer fools gladly should plan to spend a lot of time
suffering.

Going out on a limb? ® Nah, it's a strong limb. I believe neither Russia/Ukraine or
Israel/Gaza will be a problem.

I believe you're right. The dims are so bumfuzzled right now they can't even pick out
targets to concentrate on and Trump is gonna throw so much stuff at them they can't
hit any of their targets.

Like the kids protesting when the Bush 43 admin tried reforms. The school
faculty/administration organized protests. Signs like "Don't decentralize school
lunch’. Like a third grader knows what decentralize means. The low-life scum using
kids to save their racket. Same thing only school choice really hurts them. J

When you have the feds arresting parents because they object to their kids being
exposed to porn in the library. Every kid that escapes that is one adult they won't be
able to control.

Home in the valley
Home in the city
Home isn't pretty
Ain't no home for me
Home in the darkness
Home on the highway
Home isn't my way
Home I'll never be
Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for givin' the devil his due
And I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
Time is the essence
Time is the season
Time ain't no reason
Got no time to slow
Time everlasting
Time to play b sides
Time ain't on my side
Time I'll never know
Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I'm not the one to tell you what's wrong and what's right
I've seen suns that were freezing and lives that were through
But I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for givin' the devil his due
And I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you

Isn't there a band called Widespread Panic? The dimocrats sure got it. Time will tell
but if he succeeds in a few of his goals it's going to be big. The DOE is responsible for
massive damage to society and they know how valuable a tool it has been. It's hard to
pick a favorite to be axed but the DOE is up there.

They're terrified into incoherence. The ‘civil rights enforcement is one of the
weapons they'll most hate to lose and one of the best reasons to make it go away. And
1.4 trillion in student loans? That needs to stop where it is - no more loans and make
the debtors pay them back.

I expect this to be one of the nastiest. Losing the ability to corrupt the children is
scary to them. Their problem is he's giving them so many targets they can't shoot at
all of them and picking out ones they can hit will be difficult. And with the
propaganda outlets tanking they lose what little influence they have on the dullest of
the sheeple.
For every action there is a reaction, for every good an evil, for every strength a
weakness, and for every injustice there is somewhere a final justice.
