Gold
was released in 1979 but I didn't acquire it until several years later when it was available on CD. I never was much for 'hits' collections but JS is one that works. They
were hardly political at all by the time they became Jefferson Starship and while they had gone commercial the quality was better than ever. As polished as ABBA and probably got
as much airplay albeit in different markets. It's almost an hour of the best of JS - they were increasingly commercial going forward. High quality commercial but it seemed they
were in it for the money.
I don't have any favorites, it's just something I put on and sometimes loop if it's gonna be a couple or three hours. I noticed a while back that I'd missed a live album
they recorded to memorialize
Papa John Creach
when he passed away in 1994 . Need to find that one, listen to it along with Gold. Now that I think of it Grace did a couple of solo albums that were pretty good - need to
dig those out and listen to them again.
Okey-dokey, where was I?
Just noticed that the new
Left Memphis schools super
was an assistant at Wynne. Guess that's technically a move up but I wouldn't want to live in Left Memphis. Maybe it pays enough. The state senator from where I live talked
about
business there
in the capital, about tourism. Said California was the source of a lot. Lot of people leaving California they may be here looking for real estate. I know there's people moving in
from all around, sold a place I owned in Paragould a couple of years ago to a guy from California. He looked at it and went back to California to talk to his girlfriend about it,
called back a day or two later and told me don't sell it, he's flying out with a check. Met people from Illinois, New York and a couple of other non-southern states that moved here
in recent years. For now Arkansas is under the radar as people fleeing the crazy places go but as Florida and Texas get more crowded it'll get more attention. Tennessee is another
popular destination. Missouri and Oklahoma are good places to get away from it but don't know how their numbers are.
Not much big news and here the weekend is about here. Some guy was being tried for
some serious crimes,
looking at heavy time,
just ran away
before they sentenced him. Maybe they shoulda slapped the cuffs on as soon as the jury said 'guilty'.
And just like that an AP article shows up on the KAIT site. Attacking Trump of course. A woman claims he did something inappropriate to her thirty or
so years ago. They'd never run an article about Cackles plagiarizing but then AP and CNN would never have one.

Business slow this Sadderday, nothing but sports. Hope that means no major crime but it's early yet. I see a former mayor of Jonestown
declined to endorse
one of the candidates. In other news my best girl called and asked if I wanted to do Mexican tonight - I'd been thinking about pizza all day
but OK, es bueno. Just kidding, the former mayor is the one that was the president of Mercantile Bank back in the day when being president of
a bank meant something, kind of. Before all the little banks got gobbled up by the big ones and you don't know what's where. Back then a
couple of the banks I used - Mercantile being one of them - got acquired by banks that got acquired until I was constantl having to check and
see if my accounts were still there in the new bank.
I worked for a software company back in the day, did banking software. Something goes wrong in a conversion and peoples' money disappears
it ain't good. Never happened to us but I knew a couple of the big boys it happened to. We were little and couldn't afford screwups. The
ones I'm using now have been pretty stable for a good while and hope they stay that way.
Anyhow Perrin left - maybe when Mercantile got bought - don't remember. Disappeared from Jonestown a long time, came back and ran for mayor.
Did twelve years, pretty much what you'd expect. Dunno why he decided he needed to make a statement - rumors going around maybe? Dunno why
anyone would give a flip what he thinks about anything. I figure they'll either keep what they got or elect the politician that wants the job.
If he gets it it'll be interesting to see what happens - I don't expect actual improvement. Like the kid that
Major Denton
told maybe the world would return to normal without anybody doing anything said 'nothing good ever happens all by itself'. It sure ain't gonna
happen with politicians messing with it

Hope no news is good news. That is if there's nothing but sports then there ain't been any serious crime or natural disasters or such.
Looked at the Jonestown Sun like they would have anything less than a week old, scrolled down a bit, lots of football, editorials about
the election.
Pot
and
gambling
amendments. Okey-dokey. Did I mention they need some new cartoons? Problem with humor is it isn't funny unless there's an element of truth.
Totally
devoid of anything resembling facts is also devoid of funny. Whatever.

I guess the crime doesn't get reported real immediate-like, not like
Kolchak
listening to the police scanners. That was a pretty decent show as
TV goes, might watch those again some day. The movie that started it was best being as doing a decent show in an hour is difficult. And vampires were
always my favorite monsters. Until the last two or three decades when they became part of pop culture. Like Trekkies the newbies ruin everything.
Still can watch the old
Hammer films
with Chris Lee and Peter Cushing. Those were well done considering the budgets. Chris and Peter may have
suffered reputation-wise from doing so many horror films as both were superb actors. Chris did get some love later in his life. He
had an interesting one.
I liked Darren MaGavin in about everything I saw, in the Night Stalker stuff he did flaky perennial failure reporter thing pretty well. Had that
distinctive voice, kind of like David Jannsen. For some reason I don't remember that much of their work but occasionally see something they did and
liked it.
Anyhow in local crime let's get the
shoplifting school principal
out of the way first. Assistant principal actually, Douglas MacArthur Junior High in Jonestown.
Dunno much abou it, drive by a lot when I go to that side of town. Wonder if someday General MacArthur will be found to have said something not nice
about a special type of people or maybe his ancestors owned slaves and gets canceled and they have to change the names on the schools. Or maybe the
Republic will be revived starting next year and some of this foolishness will cease or maybe it won't and we'll have more foolishness.
Anyhow getting busted for shoplifting is a bad look for anybody. If I was gonna do crime it wouldn't be something embarrassing like that, especially
if they arrest you there in the story with everybody looking at you getting arrested. And I wouldn't be in a Target store to shoplift or anything else.
I suspect being a full principal is not in her future but you never know.
The piece of
human debris
that murdered a jogger in Memphis just over two years ago copped a plea. You can read and see what all he did to the victim.
Since he didn't get the big sleep there won't be years and millions of dollars trying to get it done - he's going into prison and probably never
coming out except in a box. Somewhere someone has written more about it and explained it better than I can
Couple of non-killings, that'd be a
non-fatal shootin'
and a
sex crime.
Way these people write you wonder what they're talking about:
Upon placing him into custody, officers found a gun on his person which was reported stolen out of the Blytheville Police Department.
(jonesbororightnot.com)
OK, I can believe that a gun was stolen 'out of' the Blytheville Police Department. Someone who reads the way those folks write might think that the person was stolen
out of the Blytheville PD.
What, Chris?
Well, it is. Isn't it?
Speaking of Memphis they write about the way they do here. They expect you to watch in on television so maybe they don't figure
they need to write so much. Anyway they had
this thing
about a big drug bust. Pics of the indicted persons but no other info except they was indcted. So I googled the headline and
looked around a bit and found this. It's all there in....
What, Chris?
I wasn't going to say it.

Gonna close early today, outside stuff to do tomorrow and early dark coming next week. Noticed Wynne had a fair-sized
drug bust,
perp count anyway. Guy from over at Pocahontas won big money on
Wheel of Fortune. Used to watch that a lot
because Jeopardy came on after and for some reason I was in the house about that time most days. Liked Alex but for some reason quit watching long
before he passed on. Seemed like a classy guy. Pat probly is too. Gotta know a lot of stuff to win on Jeopardy. Reminds me of that
Weird Al song.
The TV stations around Memphis still had nothing on the drug bust over there. Not a problem,
Sheriff's Office
had it all. Bunch of older dudes, operating at a club there. OK, I'm outta here.

Trump accused of groping a woman in 1992
while Jeffrey Epstein watched
Does the station decide which AP articles to run or does Gray corporate tell them? I
know they're always running something bashing Trump or Republicans generally but
if this is the best they got why bother?
When I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you.

They still try to find a way to tie Trump to Epstein. If they had anything it would be
out there already and there's nothing. This is pretty pathetic though.

The only verifiable contact with Epstein is when Trump threw him out of Mar-a-Lago.
There were probably other encounters but they weren't hanging together. Maybe
when Trump is back in office we'll finally see the Epstein black book.
What difference, at this point, does it make?

An old sales technique I've hear attributed to IBM back when they were the big evil is
CRAWL - Combat Real Arguments With Lies. Long ago adopted by the Dimocrats.
It was pittie one so wittie malcontent, leaving reason should to treason so be bent.

Lefty cartoonists aren't funny. Probably the funniest one I remember is Doonesbury
and he was mildly amusing about once a week if that. Bloom County was funnier but
that's not saying much - maybe twice a week.

Those still around? I seem to remember Trudeau being married to some big-shot
reporter. Something about staging those GM truck explosions on a 'documentary' or
maybe it was the Food Lion scam they did.
That's the biz sweetheart.

I think Bloom County may have gone away, I'm guessing Doonesbury is in the
newspapers. Who reads newspapers? Jane Pauley is probably who you're thinking
about, worked for NBC then. Have no idea where she is and don't care. I believe it
was ABC that did the Food Lion fraud.

Conservative cartoons are hilarious - Branco and Garrison are my favorites but there
are a bunch of good ones. Ever notice they draw better?

Probably because they don't have to make stuff up - just use the facts as they are.
Scott Adams (Dilbert) was the master but when he got canceled he went to paid
subscription. He's probably making more money now than when he was in the
papers.

Jonesboro has been going downhill for a long time. It used to be if you weren't in
certain parts of town you didn't notice but it seems to be spreading into formerly
decent areas. Working-class but clean and quiet. I don't know what happened to the
people who used to live there but would guess they moved. ®

They try to sweep police screw-ups and misconduct under the rug. Do they expect
the criminal class to improve their behavior?
