It seems that President Trump actually said that as early as 2014 - before he was elected president. He certainly found a way to win the war during his exile. Most people seem to agree - possibly some Democrats - that his being ousted was good for the Republic. In those four years - and I am one of many who believe that his planning for a return began as soon as the election was over. The quality of his team shows thorough planning and especially vetting of those he whose to serve in his administration.

My mentor had suggested Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard a while and I read it in three days. It's a huge book but very readable - Hubbard was after all a SF writer. I haven't read any of his other books and my friend says that he isn't certain that Hubbard wrote BE - he died just a few years after it was published and his condition at the time is uncertain. He suggests that whoever wrote it it was a final attempt to cash in on the name. Conveniently a film based on BE was released in 2000 with a disciple of Hubbard in the lead role. I haven't seen it - the reason it was suggested to me was that it is an entertaining adventure story about oppressed people turning on and overcoming their oppressors. And it was entertaining. I like stories like that.

I'll wait for a while to see what happens with the tariffs. As usual the Enemy is predicting the worst but so far their predictions haven't aged well. The mini-fiasco with the raid the other day is about over. There will be an investigation and President Trump has those demanding heads be offered up to pound sand. It was a bit of a mess and embarrassing and some people needed to be embarrassed and learn from it. Using Signal or any app not owned and controlled by the government - preferably the DOD alone - wasn't smart but there you are as Enak says. These are young people - the average of the cabinet members is 54 and there are some younger people at lower levels - and younger people in general seem to be too uncritical of technology. Or unsuspicious perhaps. When you know your enemy is poking at every part of your defenses for an opening, any opening, no matter how small you need to eliminate as many of those holes as you can. Hopefully having to deal with a minor foulup early will prevent a worse one later.

Meanwhile the Enemy is to put it mildly in disarray. They have nothing even as non-odious as Biden in the bullpen and seem not to even have a leader. Generally the president is the party leader of the victorious party while the candidate of the losing party is the leader of that party but Giggles is nowhere to be seen. This humorous cartoon illustrates part of the problem:

Some have suggested that within a decade or so one of the two major parties may not exist. I can see the Democrat party fracturing if someone doesn't get control of it soon. But who will do it? Who can do it?
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and hope I'm right. The Democrats have been running on inertia for a long time and not realizing it or even caring. The monopoly on news and entertainment media, the massive underclass to guarantee elections in many places, the ineffectual opposition party led to complacency. Clinton, Obama and Biden had did not have great political skills - they just had no effective opposition before Donald Trump. They seem now divided between the radicals (formerly merely tools) and the upper management who had been mostly running on autopilot. The autopilot has been broken and there is no pilot.
