I had forgotten until I took a recent look at The Forever War that it was set in 1997. It was published in 1974 so I would
probably even then would not have found it likely that near-instant interstellar travel would be available in another twenty or so years. Now
that I think about it I don't remember how or if the author explained how it came to be. Instant interstellar travel was necessary
for the story and the story is generally considered an allegory for the Vietnam war (the author served in Vietnam) and if you were
going to use an alien species you needed a way to get them together. Whether the part about the war happening because the species
couldn't understand each other was his opinion about Vietnam or I don't know - just like you have to get the combatants together you
need a reason. The reason for the Vietnam War was that wicked people have the money and power to govern nations and they sometimes
they do bad things. I suppose the fact that Russia and China were paranoid (not without some justification) about the U.S.A-Euro
cabal wanting to have the whole world and the ones in the U.S.A. and Europe who weren't in on the plan but were just being patriotic
and feared for their own safety and freedom could constitute a communication problem.
The problem that few want to address is not a communication problem - it is one of what might qualify as moral cowardice. To be sure
naivete plays a part - many people believe that it is possible to change a large part of the underclass that hates everything outside
of them. The only possible way to change it would require a benevolent absolute dictator for two or three generations at least and
that is about as unlikely to happen as instant interstellar transportation being discovered in the near future.
The moral cowardice part is that racial issues are a third rail for anyone - politicians, writers, and anyone subject to being canceled
for touching that rail - there seems no safe way, no insulator. Even though the accusation of racism has lost some of its power in
recent years it still terrifies most of the people who could constructively address it.
The Summer of Love riots scared a lot of people and much of that fear remains. Whether they would try it in a Trump administration
remains to be seen. There haven't been many good opportunities lately as few white cops find themselves having to deal with black perps
in such a way that if the perp ends up dead it is too clear-cut for the agitators to do more than make noise. Some of it may be that
there are fewer white cops to interact with them - the Memphis affair was black perpetrators on a black victim so no riots.
The recent incident in Texas in which a black youth murdered a white youth in front of numerous witnesses - a completely unprovoked attack
and as clearly a hate crime as a crime can be. Yet the family of the killer launched a crowdfunding campaign and raised nearly a half
million dollars in a short time. The matter of the family of the killer moving into a million-dollar house and buying an expensive new
car seems a bit hazy just now - they were still denying it as of yesterday. I am disappointed that GiveSendGo allowed it and even more
disappointed that his bail was reduced from a million to a quarter million.
The behavior of the family is not surprising - it's pretty much standard procedure when a black criminal becomes an opportunity for the
family to enrich itself. The Floyd family cashing in so big makes it even more certain that any opportunity will result in attempts
go get as much money as soon as possible.
But this case is a really ugly picture of the situation. A teenaged boy is dead - stabbed to death and dying in the arms of his twin
brother. The
family of the killer
is raking in big money and is having press conferences held by a racist agitator and presenting the
murderer as a victim. Meanwhile the family of this victim is
threatened and attacked.
If African slaves had never been brought to North America - or at least that part of North America that is the United States - the
problem would not exist. But it happened and now we have to deal with it. If after the Civil War some wise people had been able to
integrate the freed people into society more quickly perhaps some of the ugliness that followed would not have happened. But that
didn't happen either although for some time it seemed to be happening naturally if gradually. Black Americans lived as those of any
other race - stable families with both parents present, regular jobs alongside other races and ethnicities and religions and whatever.
There was some racism but it was steadily declining and black people were on average less prosperous than whites but the situation was
improving. Then came the 1960s and then a certain amount of unrest and then came LBJ and the "Great Society".
This led to single-parent families consisting of women - mostly unemployed - producing children at a greater rate than average.
Generations of children would grow up and make more non-productive dependents. Black people who did not choose this way of life
continued to live productive lives and had jobs and normal families but they were in the minority. I have been told more than once
by a black acquaintance that he considered 75% of his race as worthless and worse dangerous. He is a retired military man who
now works in law enforcement in a suburb of one of the worst cities in the country. And he isn't the only one although most just
avoid talking about it and move out of the cities.
Not content to breed an underclass of Democrat voters they indoctrinate them with hatred for white people. While other groups -
notably Asian and Jewish - have been the targets of this 'black rage' whites are the primary target. The murder of Austin Metcalf
was a hate crime pure and simple. To be sure the young thug would have happily killed a black person - most homicides are black on
black - but hatred for white people is the only explanation. And the actions of his family and those who contributed to a fund of
somewhere close to - perhaps more by now - a half million dollars. Probably some silly white people contributed but it seems to be
an expression of hatred for the victim and a desire to allow the killer to escape judgment.
The reason cities are not burning is that white people don't behave that way even when justified. The reason the killer hasn't been
done away with by a vigilante or a mob of them is that white people don't behave that way. There was a time in the past when some
did but that pales by comparison to the
depredations against white people
in the present day.
I have seen a couple of cases recently involving fathers who killed rapists of their children - one a teenaged daughter and the other
a teenaged son. Both were convicted of a low-level homicide and I believe one got probation and the other a suspended sentence.
Personally I would not have voted to convict and hung the jury but few are willing to do that. If the brother of the victim in this
case killed the killer of his brother I wonder how that trial would turn out?
Nikki@MyndCryme
If for no other reason that that I hope such a thing doesn't happen. It would be even more tragic for the surviving brother's live
to be destroyed even more than it already has been. He might get off light but the prosecution would do everything in its power to
lock him up for as long as possible. I would like to see the Justice Department prosecute it as a federal hate crime with civil
rights violations thrown in and get the death penalty (the Texas prosecutor has declined) and would settle for life without the
possibility of parole. But that probably won't happen either. The violent underclass consumed with hatred has destroyed more
innocent lives
than have illegal aliens and while the influx of illegals is for not nearly stopped and at least some are being deported the
violent mob continues to grow. Things do not look good.
