Anyone with half a brain can see that something should have been done about a lot of things long ago. It seems that with the return of Donald Trump the right time may here. It's the right time anyway - whether or not he gets the job done remains to be seen. Conventional wisdom is that Trump will have two years to make most of what progress he will achieve as the Republicans are expected to lose the House in 2026 and with the slim majority they have now it would seem extremely likely. But little if anything about the events of the election cycle would have been judged likely before they happened. I anticipated assassination attempts if it appeared that the lawfare campaign was failing but I couldn't have seen the miraculous event that did transpire. The reaction to it was some what foreseeable but I don't believe I saw or yet know how important that was. It couldn't have been planned better.

The opening of eyes such as that occasioned by the California fires coupled with the failure of the state-run media go control a sufficient part of the population. What impact it will have on California politics remains to be seen but the nitwits who run the place are in big trouble. Trump has threatened to require the state to adopt voter ID as a condition of financial aid and I have no doubt that he will do it. The effects of successfully abolishing birthright citizenship (how you abolish something that doesn't exist I don't know) and of reforming the census to eliminate non-citizens could cost them more seats in Congress. Flight of productive citizens to red states may cost them even more than it already has.

For now the two main themes are the howls of anguish as illegals are rounded up and shipped out and the dregs of humanity disguised as actual humans possibly knowing but not caring how ridiculous they look. Colombia refused to accept the return of some of its debris and President Trump informed them that they wouldn't like what happened next and their attitude was suitably adjusted in a matter of hours. Thus far none of the mayors or governors who promised to resist garbage removal in their districts have done so. I wasn't really expecting any of them to actually risk being perp-walked but it would be fun to watch. They talk tough but in the end their political career is the only thing that matters. President Trump announced yesterday that overflow housing will be made available at GITMO for any that can't be immediately returned to their point of origin. If you stick them in GITMO and the only way out is anywhere other than back into the U.S.A. it might prove to be self-cleaning.

The antics of the Democrat senators in Pete Hegseth's hearing were mild compared to those in the RFKjr hearings. This time the golden goose on the chopping block is that of Big Pharma. As with Hegseth they used the family member attack but being a Kennedy isn't what it used to be as RFK illustrates. He proved to be the one that isn't compromised, although some of them seem to have some sense or principles or both. The lasting image for those looking at the big picture is one of a handful of old, not-too-bright-to-begin-with and in many cases closing in on senility desperately trying to prevent erosion of their power and filthy lucre juxtaposed with smart, younger and energetic - mentally and physically people who are cannot be controlled.

Last night a Blackhawk helicopter collided with a CJR700 outside Reagan National Airport apparently with 100% casualties. It will be a while before any definitive account is available. I don't especially like flying at night and don't like flying in helicopters any time and there have been a lot of Blackhawk crashes at night. Why one was flying apparently in or near an air corridor in DC is another matter. At least it won't be covered up and the Trump administration all of ten days old is already being blamed by the usual suspects.

The best time to act on this was decades ago. The second best time is now. David Brin

Secrecy is the keystone to all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy and censorship. When any government or church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man who has been hoodwinked in this fashion; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, whose mind is free. No, not the rack nor the atomic bomb, not anything. You can't conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him. Robert A Heinlein
